Recovery is quieter, longer and lonelier than people expect.
Common Ground is a letter library for people navigating injury, pain, illness, treatment, rest and adaptation. Every letter is written by someone who has lived through something difficult, addressed to whoever comes next.
Recovery can change how you see yourself. It can make ordinary days feel long. It can bring frustration, uncertainty, setbacks and a sense of being caught between who you were and who you're becoming.
These are the parts that can be difficult to explain and even harder to feel alone in.
So Common Ground doesn't offer a formula for recovery. It offers stories.
Someone else's experience won't necessarily tell you what to do. But it might make something you're feeling feel a little more familiar. A little more understandable. A little less yours alone.
Different lives. Shared experiences. Common ground.
How letters are handled
You write a letter, anonymously.
No account, no email, no name. Only your topic, title, letter and optional sign-off.
It is read (by a human) before anyone else sees it.
Letters stay private until reviewed. Anything unsafe, identifying or advice-giving in a harmful way is not published.
It joins the library.
Approved letters appear in the reader, where they can be filtered and saved.
Live from Common Ground

Dr Carl Bescoby
Dr Carl Bescoby works with people through the psychological side of injury, illness and rehabilitation: identity, motivation, fear of re-injury, and the long work of adapting. Common Ground is the peer-voice companion to that work.
Common Ground is not therapy, medical advice or crisis support. If you need urgent help, please contact your GP or local emergency services.
